Chiltern Seeds say:"This is an interesting looking plant of which the edible part is the swollen stem just above the soil level. This is best eaten when not much larger than a billiard ball, and has a pleasant, nutty flavour enjoyed by most people. Easy to grow, Kohl Rabi thrives in dry, poor soil where Turnips and Swedes will not be a success. The purple-stemmed counterpart of 'Delicacy White', a little later in maturity but slightly more tender and stronger flavoured."
