Chiltern Seeds say: "This is a very large, giant even, white and light green variety slowly growing into a bulb ten inches or more in diameter and weighing in at 10 lbs. or more. Yet it is long-standing, remaining tender and not becoming woody. Better tasting than other very large cultivars, it has an excellent, mild sweet flavour and you don't have to wait for it to attain football size before taking it to the table - in Italy they enjoy it before it has reached hen's-egg size."
